Western Canada High School is proud to offer the Calgary Board of Education Fine and Performing Arts Certificate. This certificate and course represents student involvement in the Fine Arts at Western throughout their 3 years. In this certificate, course students will explore a vision of life as an artist. For the student, it may be career-oriented or simply a self-exploration.
In order to be eligible for the Fine and Performing Arts Certificate students must have 30 credits completed in the Fine and Performing Arts at Western by the end of the Grade 12 year. Courses from the following disciplines quality for the credit eligibility: Visual Arts, Drama, Music, Film, Photography, and Digital Media. During the grade 12 year, students then enrol in the Leadership in the Arts 35 course, which runs Tuesday’s at lunch. An additional 5 credits come with the completion of the Leadership in the Arts 35 course. The course concludes with a ceremony and presentation of the certificate.
