Drama 30

5 Credits

In this most intensive theatre course, actors study movement, Shakespeare, stage combat, learn auditioning skills and get to direct their own scenes.

Prerequisite: Drama 20 and recommendation from Drama teacher

This challenging course takes drama students to a pre-professional level. Students study Shakespeare, stage combat, Canadian theatre (which includes a giant tea party that allows the students to host many members of the Alberta theatre community), Performance Art (which sees them stopping life in the hallways of Western with their performances), Auditioning (during which they audition for a professional director), and the Drama 30 Director’s Projects, a tradition at Western that has seen many students go on to professional careers in the arts, or become patrons of the arts. This course takes significant commitment and is intensely rewarding.
